Sister Christine Hudson (f)

Nurse Practitioner

Chris has been with the practice for many years and has a great deal of experience in all areas of general practice.  She is qualified to prescribe and can refer you on to secondary care if this is deemed appropriate.

Sister Sharon Salisbury (f)

Nurse Practitioner

Sharon has been a qualified nurse for nearly 40 years and has accrued an extensive range of knowledge and experience, including Accident & Emergency and in the community, where she worked as a Community Matron. Sharon qualified as a Nurse Practitioner 10 years ago.  She is able to assess, examine and prescribe. Her interests are contraception including implants and the menopause.


Sister Nicola Hamblett

Lead Practice Nurse

Nicola joined the practice in 2019 as a Practice Nurse and became Lead Practice Nurse in 2021. Prior to joining Queen Square Nicola worked in the community with the Long Term Conditions service managing patients with chronic disease and frailty. Nicola has qualifications in Critical Care and has experience working across acute and critical care in Manchester, London and Cambridge.

Sister Catherine Jackson (f)

Practice Nurse

Cath joined the surgery as Lead Nurse at the beginning of May 2017. She studied nursing at Glasgow Royal Infirmary 1984 to 1987. She moved to Lancaster in 1987 and worked as a Staff Nurse locally. She also studied midwifery and worked as a Midwife for six years. She started practice nursing in 1995 and has worked in four of the local practices. She trained in all areas of disease management and carries out all necessary treatment room duties.

Sister Catherine Townsend (f)

Practice Nurse

Catherine joined the Practice officially in January 2013. Catherine has worked over four years in Practice Nursing and previously nine years in the Community as a Nurse Visitor for the elderly. Catherine also has worked thirteen years with the Health Visitor Service doing childhood immunisations and health reviews. Catherine has experience in Travel Medicine and has an advanced certificate in Respiratory (asthma/COPD) and is embarking on further study in other chronic disease areas.

Sister Lisa Waddington (f)

Practice Nurse

Lisa is a qualified Nurse with twenty years experience. For most of this time she worked as a District Nurse. She has a wide range of knowledge and skills particularly wound care and Dermatology.

Sister Sarah Bland (f)

Practice and Research Nurse

Sarah was a Healthcare Assistant here for many years before she left to do her Nursing Diploma in 2011. She returned to the Practice in April 2014 as a Treatment Room Nurse, now qualified as a Practice Nurse and she has expanded her skillset by joining the research team.

Sister Eleanor Sowerby (f)

Research Nurse

Elley joined the Practice in January 2018. She is a registered Nurse with over seventeen years experience working in a variety of areas including Intensive Care, A&E, Hospice and most recently at Lancaster University, where she worked as the Country Trainer for a large EU care home study as well as Research Associate and Advance Care Planning (ACP) Facilitator. She joins the team as a Research Nurse helping to develop Primary Care Research across Morecambe Bay CCG.

Sister Julie Leach (f)

Research Nurse

Julie joined the Practice in June 2012. She is a Registered Nurse with over 10 years experience working as a Practice Nurse and prior to that twenty years experience working in a hospital setting. Julie is working at the Practice as a Research Nurse and may contact you to ask if you wish to be involved in a Research Project that the Practice is involved with.

Health Practitioners

Rebekah Gunn

Paramedic Practitioner

Rebekah was born and bred in Lancashire.  She joined Queen Square in 2020 as a Paramedic Practitioner. Rebekah qualified as a Paramedic in 2010 and worked for North West Ambulance Service as a frontline Paramedic before specialising in the development of Urgent Care.

She is currently a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner studying for her Masters degree.  

Many of the home visits will now be carried out by Rebekah rather than your GP.

Healthcare Assistants

Health Care Assistants are important members of our team supporting the nursing staff. They are on hand to assist the doctors and nurses. Amongst the services they are trained to provide are: Blood Samples, Blood Pressure Testing Including 24hr blood pressure monitoring, Urine Sampling, Medication Monitoring, ECGs, Glucose Tolerance Testing, Spirometry, Minor Operations, B12 injections, Flu injections.
